KSI Meinsberg
The Kurt Schwabe Institut für Mess- und Sensortechnik Meinsberg e.V. (KSI Meinsberg) has more than 75 years of experience in applied sensor research. It works on the development of miniaturized sensors and sensor systems - mainly for decentralized on-site applications. One focus are electrochemical all solid state sensors for mobile environmental monitoring inclusive the analysis of water quality, i.e. detection of contaminations with heavy metals, agricultural remnants and drug residues. Further topics are sensor systems for the production, conversion and storage of regenerative energies as well as for medical diagnostics.
Contribution to PLANtAR
The KSI Meinsberg develops a miniaturized electrochemical sensor system, by which the EU commission regulation value of maximal 50 mg/L nitrates in drinking water can be measured. The sensor system will neither contain fluidic electrolyte nor glassy components, which will guarantee an intrinsic robustness necessary for on-site monitoring. In cooperation with the European partners, nitrate sensors will be integrated into a self-contained, biodegradable multi-sensor system and validated in field tests for different applications in modern farming. This will open up new markets in the area of smart farming.
